I am featuring this wine as my September Wine of the Month. I absolutely love The Prisoner, and when I tasted this wine it blew my mind. It tastes so similar to The Prisoner, but half the price. This is one of my new favorites. Here is my review:
X Winery “Red X” Winemaker’s Blend 2007
If you like Orin Swifts The Prisoner, then you will LOVE this wine. The 2007 Red X blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel hits you in the nose with ripe blackberry, black plum, and a hint of licorice. It will smack your palate around with ripe, juicy, black cherry, plum, and blueberry fruit complicated by a lash of mocha, pepper, and licorice. As the wine escapes, it leaves a finish of blackberry cobbler, cinnamon spice, mocha and good ripe tannin. This wine is downright slammable! The perfect ending to summer and the perfect transition into Fall. At least until the next vintage of The Prisoner is released.
