Eat, Drink, and Be Hopeful

Overstuffed Sandwiches are YUM!

October 18, 2009 · 2 Comments

I really think working out has something to do with your mood during the day. Last week I felt sluggish and in a bad mood almost every day, but everything is completely different today, and I really do think it is because I worked out this morning.

After I figured out what google reader actually was I didn’t really like it to much. My co-worker uses iGoogle and I liked the look and organization of that SO much better. So I set up my iGoogle account and added all my favorite blogs to it. This will be a great way for me to keep track of all the blogs I follow in a much more organized fashion.

I can’t believe how many services google offers: google reader, igoogle, gmail, google chrome, google calendar, google docs, etc, etc. It is very overwhelming to me.

Lunch was late today because I just wasn’t hungry. I made a huge stuffed sandwich on 2 pieces of Arnold Whole Grain Bread. I really do love Arnold bread. They make so many healthy varieties, and each one tastes so good. I used a Gulden’s dijon mustard and topped my sandwich with about 3 oz plain sliced chicken breast, 1/2 of a large tomato, and 1 mini cucumber.

I toasted the sandwich, and heated up the chicken so it was warm. I’ve said this before, but I really like my sandwiches toasted and warm. It just tastes better that way to me.

The sandwich was fresh tasting and very filling. I actually didn’t mind that there was no cheese or mayo.

After my sandwich I had a sad looking fruit salad. These were my strawberries and kiwi from THIS breakfast last week. I just never got around to eating them so I thought today was a great day to eat them before they go bad.

I also had some leftover pumpkin latte leftover from this morning that I re-heated and enjoyed later in the afternoon.

Can’t wait to go home and get cozy with some home-made chili!!!!

I’m back and ready to go

October 18, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Good Sunday Morning! My weekend is over, and its a very sad thought. I had off Friday and Saturday, and like I said before I had to pass on a weekend away with my girlfriends to help my parents move. The move went well and we did a lot of cleaning.

I took last week off from running (and working out :-( ) and it felt good, but I was SO ready to get back into the routine of working out.

I stayed the night at my parents last night, and I went to bed super early, but I STILL did not want to wake up this morning. The weather has been so cold and rainy for the past 5 days, and it is REALLY hard to get motivated when it is like this. But I still peeled myself out of the sheets because I knew I had a free indoor gym that I could use to run. It was a no brainer, and I FORCED myself to work out.

My parents have a great gym in their condo with treadmills that have TV’s, ellipticals, and tons of weight machines. I knew I was scheduled for a 4 mile quick run according to my Workout Schedule so that is exactly what I did. Unfortunately I didn’t feel so great running today, but I still pushed through because I thought of how good I would feel once I was finished.

I started out with my daily mourning routine which I will start doing daily! This time I did it with my shoes on, and it made SUCH a difference. It was almost like having weights on my ankles.

  • 3 sets of 20 reps-kneeling push-ups
  • 2 sets of 60 reps-leg lifts/each leg

I proceeded to the treadmill where I completed 4 miles at a 1.5 incline in 37 minutes and walked for the last 3 minutes for a cool down. I didn’t really follow any specific speed plan, but I just ran around a 9:15 pace for the first 5 minutes and then anywhere between 8-8:50 pace for 30 minutes and back to 9:15 pace for the last few minutes to finish it out.

This wasn’t my best workout, but it definitely kick started me back on track, and to be honest I felt SO good afterwards. However I do have some bad news. Remember these shoes?

I was supposed to retire my old running shoes and start breaking these new ones in. I wore them this morning, and they still just don’t feel comfortable. I think they were the source of the foot pain I was having before. So I am going to take them back and hopefully get something that doesn’t make my foot hurt.

I got to work and finally started to feel hungry for breakfast. I brought a packet of Quaker Oats High Fiber Cinnamon and Spice Oatmeal. I also had a really ripe banana, so I mashed the banana in the oatmeal and heated it up with water.

HOLY YUM! This was spectacular. Creamy, and comforting, and oh so good. And there was 10g of Fiber in ONE packet. You can’t beat that!

Since I didn’t have time for coffee this morning Chris met me for a quick coffee break (so nice of him :-) ) and of course we went to the local Starbucks. I was in the mood for a Pumpkin Spice Latte so I got a Grande Skim Pumpkin Spice with only 3 shots of Pumpkin instead of 4. I don’t like when it is so sweet.

This hit the spot! Thanks Chris! Since I have been gone all weekend, he brought me a small package that came for me on Friday.

My MOO cards from Foodbuzz! I was excited to get them because now I have something to give people when I tell them about my blog. They are a lot smaller then I expected, but I was still excited about them.

And I love how each one has a different picture of food on the back. It made me happy.

9.3.09-3 009

So there you have it. Working out, shoes, breakfast, coffee, and moo cards. Quite a Sunday so far. Now its time to work, and think about what I want to make for dinner.

9.3.09-3 002

I’m thinking Turkey Chili because this is the perfect weather for chili. I plan to peruse some recipes today as well as set up Google Reader. I’m so behind the times!

Catch up with you later!
